Meet in library on Wednesday, January 2:

o    Return The Outsiders

o    Check out You Don’t Know Me

o    Review this website:  http://www.helpguide.org/mental/child_abuse_physical_emotional_sexual_neglect.htm_

      emotional_sexual_neglect.htm

o    Then respond to Blog #11 – Help Me:  Sometimes teenagers have trouble communicating their problems with others who could help them.

  • If you had a friend that you knew for certain was being physically or emotionally abused at home and he or she was trying to hide it, what would you do? Explain in detail what you would want to do and why you would or wouldn't do it.
  • Also, think about if things were reversed, and you were the one being abused. What do you think you would do? Explain.

Directions: Write a short paragraph on each. (That means two paragraphs!)

[The purpose of this blog is to get everyone thinking about a major theme in the next book that we are reading You Don't Know Me by David Klass.]

o    Review Figurative Language at http://languagearts.mrdonn.org/figurative.html or at http://examples.yourdictionary.com/examples-of-figurative-language.html

o    Then take two Edmodo quizzes:  1.  Figurative Language (Simile, Metaphor, or Personification)   2.  “You Don’t Know Me Anticipatory Quiz”

o    Respond to Edmodo Poll:  Do you know someone who is being physically and/or emotionally abused?  YES/NO

If time, take practice quiz on all of the "Bridge to Lit Terms" learned this semester at https://flashcards.engrade.com/lit9termsmustknow
